The “Dinu and Sevasta Vintilă” Museum
“Still life with statuette”
Theodor PALLADY (1871- 1956)
“Pallady chose few themes for his painting. But the intensity with which they were expressed gives them a miraculous uniqueness. There is no attempt at description or imitation in his painting, nor any effort to seek out elements of direct correspondence with objects.
His work is built around nature, in which he only seeks “beauty and harmony” – because “ugliness” terrified the artist. Nature is an (artistic) motif that goes back centuries and offers infinite possibilities for representations. “A painting – states Pallady – is a pictorial poem […] of lines, shapes and colors. It is more than a painting. It is thought, feeling, expressed through painting: lines, shapes and colors…” (Raoul Șorban, Theodor Pallady)
