„Still Life with Watermelon”

The theme of the painting is part of the kind of table served, which has existed since antiquity and usually decorates the room called triclinium. The painter suggests the refinement and calm of an intimate family breakfast. The artist caught the moment at the end of lunch, but before the nap – indicated by the half-full carafe, the glass of red wine already tasted, the watermelon from which several slices were cut and partially consumed, but also by the lighted window that reflects on the surface of the bottle, as well as the playing cards displayed by the diners for a patience.
