The “Dinu and Sevasta Vintilă” Museum
In 1960, Dr. Gheorghe Vintilă (1898 – 1978), a physician who was also an art connoisseur and collector, donated 228 works of Romanian art to his native village (now township) of Topalu, Constanța County, and opened the only art museum in Romania located in a village. He housed the museum in his parent’s house and named it in their honor. Later on, the museum became part of The Constanța Art Museum.
It hosts artworks by masters of Romanian painting, sculpture and graphic arts from the 19th and 20th centuries, such as: Nicolae Grigorescu, Ştefan Luchian, Nicolae Tonitza, Theodor Pallady, Gh. Petraşcu, Nicolae Dărăscu, Jean Al. Steriadi, Camil Ressu, Alexandru Ciucurencu, Dimitrie Paciurea, Oscar Han, and others.
The township of Topalu is situated in Northern Dobrudja, on the right bank of Danube, about 80 kilometres (50 miles) from Constanța.
The visitors will enjoy the location of this unique museum, the surrounding area, and the treasure inside an old and apparently modest house.
